Is Inkwell really free?
Yes. The full editor is free forever: all four themes and the custom theme creator, the workspace file tree, Mermaid diagrams, LaTeX math, the command palette, version history, templates, focus and typewriter modes, and find and replace. No account, no trial timer, no nag screens. Only PDF and HTML export require Pro.
What exactly does Pro unlock?
Two things: PDF export and HTML export. The $19 Pro license is a one-time purchase that adds professional PDF output via the Typst engine and standalone HTML files with math and diagrams preserved. Everything else is already in the free editor.
Does the Pro license expire or renew?
Never. One payment, yours forever. There are no renewal fees and no device check-ins. Your license is a signed file on your machine, so it works fully offline and survives reinstalls.
