Command Palette ​

Press Ctrl+K to access every action in Inkwell from one place.

One shortcut, everything reachable. Instead of hunting through menus or memorizing a wall of key combinations, you press Ctrl+K, type a few letters of what you want, and hit Enter. Switch a theme, export a PDF, open version history, toggle focus mode, activate your license: all of it lives behind the same prompt. For anyone who writes with their hands on the keyboard, the palette is the fastest way to drive the whole editor, and it doubles as a live reference for the shortcuts you have not memorized yet.

How it works ​

  1. Press Ctrl+K to open the palette
  2. Start typing to filter results in real-time with fuzzy matching
  3. Arrow keys to navigate, Enter to execute
  4. Escape to close

Available commands ​

The palette includes every action in Inkwell:

  • File operations — New File, Open File, Save, Save As, Close Tab
  • View — Toggle Preview, Focus Mode, Typewriter Mode
  • Themes — Switch to any built-in or custom theme
  • Fonts — Switch between Serif, Sans, and Mono
  • Exports — Export PDF, Export HTML
  • Other — Version History, Search, Open Folder, Activate License, Create Theme

Fuzzy matching ​

You don't need to type the exact name. "mid" matches "Theme: Midnight". "foc" matches "Focus Mode".

Shortcut hints ​

Each command shows its keyboard shortcut on the right side, so the palette also serves as a shortcut reference.

Frequently asked questions ​

Is the command palette free?

Yes. It is part of the free editor. Some actions it can launch, like PDF and HTML export, require a Pro license, but the palette itself and most of what it does are free.

Do I have to memorize command names?

No. Partial and approximate letters are enough, so if you know roughly what a thing is called, the palette will surface it. You don't have to remember the exact wording.

Can I really do everything from the keyboard?

The palette exposes every action in the editor, so for most workflows you never need the mouse. Open a file, switch themes, export, search, toggle modes, all from Ctrl+K. The full mapping is on the keyboard shortcuts page.

Does it find my custom themes?

Yes. Custom themes appear in the palette next to the built-ins, so you apply or delete them the same way you switch any theme.
